Esmelia Sniff tells me she is now on Facebook and invites you to be her friend!

She also announces the release of her hilarious new book “The Wickedest Witch”, apparently it’s the first installment of the “Witch Wars” trilogy written by the talented Martin Howard, more details can be seen on her website www.witchesatwar.co.uk

I worked on the production design of Tinkerbell for eighteen months, during that time I thoroughly enjoyed working with the brilliant Paul and Gaetan Brizzi. Here are some of the colour sketches I produced from their storyboards.

‘The Wickedest Witch” – A rival for Harry Potter!

Posted in Children's books. on August 5, 2009 by colinstimpson

I have illustrated the first book in a series of three written by Martin Howard, entitled “Witch Wars”. It’s due to be released in the next month or so. Published by Anova, it’s showing up on Amazon UK as coming soon. I produced thirty-five black and white drawings for the book and have just seen the proofs. They will be printed on an uncoated paper, hopefully giving the pictures a nice soft and old fashioned feel.

Wookey Hole witch.

Rumour has it that Esmelia Sniff has been offered the job as the official Wookey Hole witch but has turned it down because the money and working conditions were not good enough. When asked if the story was true or false she declined to comment.

“Esmelia Sniff”

Posted in Children's books. on June 25, 2009 by colinstimpson

Esmelia Sniff, star of the witches’ recipe book “How to Cook Children”, recently purchased a computer in order to write her own blog (or bog as she puts it). As fate has it she was almost immediately offered a three book deal so she is now too busy to write down her daily twitters. Esmelia and her author friend Martin Howard are now hard at work on the series of novels. She has already completed the first story entitled “Witches at War – The Wickedest Witch”, it’s due out in October 2009. The story follows Sam, Esmelia’s young apprentice as she trains to become a fully fledged witch. It’s both funny and charming and I recommend it 100%!

“Sheepish”

Posted in Animation on June 10, 2009 by colinstimpson

One of the things I like about working in animation is having to change styles for each movie. Sheepish was a movie being developed by Starz animation in 2006. I enjoyed doing some visual development on it for a short time before it was put on hold. Here are some of my sketches that illustrate the simple graphic style they were heading towards.
